Operator: Vickery Machine Logic, LLC · Greenville, SC (“we,” “us,” “our”)
Effective date: November 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains, in plain English, what information JohnnyVickery.com (the “Site”) collects, why, who it goes to, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. Our rule is simple: collect as little as we can, never sell it, delete it sooner than the law requires, and give everyone the same privacy rights no matter where they live.
The short version
- We collect only what we need to deliver your downloads, answer your messages, and keep the Site secure.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use targeted or behavioral advertising.
- We do not use analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking cookies.
- We do not send marketing or newsletter emails.
- Payments are handled by PayPal. Your card and bank details never touch our Site.
- Anyone can ask to see, correct, or delete their information, and we answer within 15 days.
1. Who we are
JohnnyVickery.com is owned and operated by Vickery Machine Logic, LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company in Greenville, SC. We offer software downloads, both free and paid. The terms that apply to the software itself are in our Software License & Terms of Sale.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in only a few ways. We do not collect sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, precise location, health information, or full payment card or bank account numbers.
When you download or buy software
Checkout is guest-only; you do not need an account. To deliver your download and keep a record of the order, our store software (Easy Digital Downloads) collects and stores:
- Your name and email address (which you type in at checkout).
- The order details: what you downloaded or bought, the price, the date and time, the order number, and, for paid orders, the payment status and PayPal transaction ID.
- Your agreement to our Software Terms at checkout.
- Technical details recorded with the order and with each file download, such as your IP address, browser type (user agent), and the date and time of the download. These help us confirm delivery, fix download problems, and prevent fraud or abuse.
When you pay
Paid orders are handled by PayPal. When you choose to pay, you are sent to PayPal’s own website to complete the payment. Your card number, bank details, and PayPal login are entered with PayPal, not on our Site, and we never see or store them. PayPal sends us back a confirmation that the payment went through, along with a transaction ID and basic payer details such as name and email. PayPal handles your payment information under its own Privacy Statement.
When you contact us
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, a subject, and your message. The form does not save your message on our Site. Instead, it is sent to us by email: our Site hands the message to our email-sending tool, which delivers it through our email delivery provider, Brevo, to our inbox. Our Site does not keep logs or copies of the emails it sends. Your message is kept only in our own mailbox. We use what you send only to read and answer your message.
When you leave a comment
If comments are open on a page and you leave one, WordPress stores the name, email address, and website (if any) you enter, your comment, and your IP address and browser user agent (used to help detect spam). Your name, website, and comment are shown publicly; your email address and IP address are not. The Site shows profile pictures (avatars) next to comments, so WordPress sends a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address to Gravatar, a service run by Automattic Inc., to check whether you have a picture there. Gravatar handles this under Automattic’s Privacy Policy. We do not send comments to any outside spam-filtering service.
When you visit any page
- Server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider’s servers automatically record basic technical information for each visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the date and time. This is used for security and to keep the Site running.
- Security logs. If someone tries to log in to the Site’s admin area and fails, our security plugin records the IP address and username tried so it can block repeated attempts.
- Fonts. Some of the Site’s typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser loads them, it connects to Google, which receives your IP address and browser details. Google describes how it handles this in its Google Fonts privacy FAQ and its Privacy Policy.
Accounts
The Site does not offer public account registration, and checkout does not create an account for you. Every order is a guest order. The only user account is the site owner’s administrator account.
4. How we use information
We use information only to:
- Deliver your downloads and send your receipt and download links.
- Answer your messages and provide support, including handling refund requests.
- Keep the Site secure and working, and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse.
- Keep the business, tax, and accounting records the law requires.
- Meet other legal obligations and protect our rights.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build profiles about you, and we do not use your information to train artificial intelligence models.
6. No sale, no sharing, no targeted ads
We do not sell personal information, we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling. We have not done so in the past 12 months and have no plans to. No other companies collect information about your online activities across different websites through our Site. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before it applies to you.
7. Emails we send
We send only transactional emails: your order receipt, download links, and replies to messages you send us. We do not send marketing emails or newsletters, and we do not add anyone to a mailing list. If we ever start a newsletter, it will be strictly opt-in: we will update this policy first, ask for your consent, and every message will include an unsubscribe link and the other information required by the federal CAN-SPAM Act.
8. How long we keep information
Our rule is to delete information sooner than the law requires, and to keep records the law requires us to keep twice as long as the law requires, so we never fall short. Here is what that means in practice:
- Order records (name, email, items, prices, dates, PayPal transaction ID, checkout agreement, and the technical details recorded with the order and its downloads): kept for 6 years after the end of the year of the order. That is twice the general 3-year period the IRS and the South Carolina Department of Revenue use for reviewing tax records. After that, we delete them.
- Contact form messages and other emails: not stored on the Site, which keeps no email logs or copies. Contact messages exist only in our own mailbox. We delete them once your question is resolved and we no longer need them, and in any case within 12 months. Brevo keeps delivery records under its own retention schedule.
- Comments: kept while the comment is published. WordPress keeps the commenter’s email address, IP address, and browser user agent with the comment for as long as the comment exists. You can ask us to delete your comment, or just the email and IP address stored with it, at any time.
- Security logs (failed login attempts): kept only as long as needed to protect the Site, and cleared regularly.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider under its own retention schedule.
- Backups: we keep backup copies of the Site (including its database) so we can recover from problems. Backups are kept on a rolling basis: older backups are deleted automatically as newer ones replace them. When we delete information from the Site, it disappears from our backups as those older backups rotate out.
As a safety net, we review the information we hold at least once a month and delete anything that has passed its retention period or is no longer needed.
9. How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to the Site, security headers, a tool that limits and blocks repeated login attempts, a strong administrator login, regular software updates, and regular backups. We keep information on the Site to a minimum, and we never collect payment card numbers. No website can be 100% secure, but we take protecting your information seriously.
10. If something goes wrong
If we learn that personal information we hold was accessed or acquired without permission in a way that puts people at risk, we will investigate right away, take steps to contain it, and notify the people affected without unreasonable delay, and in any case within 15 days after we confirm what happened, unless law enforcement asks us to wait. We will do this whether or not a particular breach-notification law requires it, and we will also give any notices that South Carolina law (S.C. Code § 39-1-90) or the law of your state requires.
11. Your privacy rights
Some state laws give residents specific privacy rights. We give these rights to everyone, wherever you live, free of charge. You can ask us to:
- Know and access the personal information we have about you, and get a copy in a common, portable format.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Delete your information.
- Opt out of any sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling. We don’t do any of these, but the right is yours anyway.
- Appeal our decision if we turn down any part of your request.
We will never treat you differently, charge you more, or give you a lower quality of service for using any of these rights.
What we may have to keep. If you ask us to delete your information, we will delete everything we can. We may need to keep order records the law requires us to keep (see Section 8), or information needed to prevent fraud, protect security, or handle a legal claim. If so, we will tell you what we kept and why, keep it only for that purpose, and delete it when the retention period ends.
12. How to make a request
Send your request through our contact page. Tell us what you would like us to do and the email address you used on the Site (for example, at checkout or in a comment).
- Verification. To protect your information, we will confirm the request comes from you before we act, usually by asking you to reply from the email address connected to your order or comment. We will ask only for what we need to verify you, and use it only for that.
- Authorized agents. Someone you authorize may make a request for you. We may ask for proof of that authorization and still verify your identity with you directly.
- Timing. We will respond within 15 days of receiving your request. In the rare case that a request needs more time, we will tell you within those 15 days and finish within 45 days of receiving it.
- Appeals. If we decline any part of your request, we will explain why. You can appeal by replying through our contact page with the word “Appeal.” We will answer your appeal within 15 days and explain our decision. If you are still not satisfied, you may contact your state attorney general.
13. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because there is no common industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT, our Site does not change its behavior when it receives one. That said, we do not track visitors over time or across other websites, and we do not allow other companies to do so through our Site, so the result is the same as if DNT were honored.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information. Since we don’t sell or share personal information, nothing about your visit changes.
14. State privacy laws
California. This policy is written to meet the California Online Privacy Protection Act. California’s Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) applies only to businesses that meet certain size thresholds, and we expect we do not. Even so, California residents have all of the rights in Section 11. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information. Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, you may ask whether we disclosed personal information to others for their direct marketing; we do not.
Other states. Many states, including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, and others, have their own consumer privacy laws. Most apply only to businesses above certain size thresholds. Whether or not they apply to us, residents of every state get the rights in Section 11. Nevada residents: we do not sell covered information as defined by Nevada law, and you may still send us an opt-out request through our contact page.
15. Children’s privacy
Our Site and software are intended for adults. The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please tell us through our contact page and we will delete it promptly. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone, including teens.
16. Where we operate
We are based in the United States, and the Site is intended for users in the United States. Information collected on the Site is stored and processed in the United States. Emails sent through our email delivery provider, Brevo, are also processed in the European Union. If you visit from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
17. Other websites and services
The Site links to other websites and services, such as PayPal. When you leave our Site, the other site’s privacy policy applies, not this one. We are not responsible for how other sites handle information.
Related policies: Software License & Terms of Sale and our Refund Policy (Section 12 of the Software Terms).
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If we make a significant change, such as starting a newsletter or using information in a new way, we will update this page before the change takes effect, and where the change affects information we already have, we will ask for your consent first.
